Global Purpose Seekers at NYC

November 20th, 2008 by Danny

Global Purpose Seekers is a program developed by International Missions that enables young people to make wise decisions and discern God’s will. Using the global positioning system analogy for tracking location, this GPS employs five “satellites” to help students know where they are and which way they should go:

•    Scripture – The Bible is our source of divine wisdom and revelation.
•    Prayer – Communication with God is a two-way channel
•    Conscience – The leading of the Holy Spirit convicts and convinces
•    Godly mentors – Seeking wise counsel for advice and confirmation
•    Experiences – God has equipped, directed and gifted you uniquely

Each satellite will be presented through seminars and activities at the National Youth Conference. Students will also be able to participate in a simulated cross-cultural experience by visiting a mock international marketplace bazaar. The capstone event will be a Concert of Prayer on Tuesday evening.

Students that attend all five satellite sessions will receive special recognition during the NYC Awards Ceremony.

Are you seeking people for the GPS seminars? What age group are you looking for? Will this conflict with any competition schedules? If your answers are “yes, 13-18, no”, then I would like more information. And will suggest this to my son.

    Love the idea!

    The short answers are:

    Yes, 13-18, & sometimes.

The more information includes the following:

We will be using various youth workers and missionaries to lead the sessions. The sessions will be designed for a teen audience, although we realize some younger students may also attend. Each of the “satellite” seminars will be presented three times during the week, so hopefully, there will be plenty of opportunities for students to attend sometime that does not conflict with their competition schedule.

Let me know if you have additional questions or other ideas.

    Thanks,

    Danny
