The Value of a Good Bad Example

October 14th, 2008 by Danny

The Bible includes a lot of stories of what not to do. We don’t have time to make all the mistakes that could be made. Fortunately, we don’t have to. We can see how the story played out in the lives of the Bible characters. We can see the effects of their decisions and know what to avoid.

Solomon demonstrated that all the money in the world isn’t enough to bring satisfaction.
David proved to us that you can’t cover up sin–no matter how powerful or popular you may be.
Jonah is an example of the futility of trying to run away from God.
Ahab illustrates the calamity of a life of wickedness.

These things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction (1 Cor. 10:6-12)

    Hey Danny,

This is sooo true. I remember when we were at the center association camp ground and you were the most strict youth pastor there. I also remember how you stuck to your guns on the big issues which were life changing for us as kids…

    Just wanted to say thanks..

    Justin,

Great to hear from you. I enjoyed those days at camp. Glad to have been able to pass along what others passed on to me. Thank you.
