Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most
It was 12* this morning. At that temperature any adopted Floridian has a strong urge to burrow deeper in the covers and turn up the electric blanket. But I was already awake with a dozen things running through my mind, so I may as well go on to work and take care of those things on my mental “to do” list.
I was heading toward the door, after putting on my coat and bundling up, and fortunately realized I did not have my computer. A quick turn around retrieved this from the kitchen table. Since this is Friday (garbage pickup day), and I had PLENTY of time, I took out the trash as I was on my way to the car. As I was preparing to leave, I noticed my computer bag in the car, but no lunch. (That extra bag I had carried out was the trash, not my lunch.) Lunch was still sitting on the kitchen table (right beside where the computer had been only minutes earlier). So, I went back up the garage steps to get my lunch.
Somehow, while closing the kitchen door with keys in gloved hand, I punched the panic button on the car key fob. By the way, it was 5:30 AM at this time. After a half dozen blasts from the car horn, I punched the correct button to silence the alarm. Maybe no one was disturbed by this.
As I am backing out of the garage, my cell phone rings. Sure enough, it is Diane calling to check about the “emergency.” She had hoped to sleep a little longer before having to get ready for work. Unfortunately, the garage is directly below the bedroom. I explained what happened and apologized for disturbing her sleep as I drove away.
When I got to the end of the block, I couldn’t remember if I had punched the button to close the garage door. A quick turn around confirmed that I had. So, off to work I go (again), thinking this will be a good day to get a LARGE peach tea from Sonic. That’s when I realized, I didn’t have my wallet. So another turn around at the end of the block, a quick call to Diane to let her know I was the one opening the garage door (just below the bedroom), and soon I was on my way to work, again.
Traffic is light this time of the day. Only God and a few other people are awake at this time. The people at Sonic are not even ready for business. So, no peach tea. Now I’m ready to go back to sleep.

At least it is Friday. Your experience sounds like a Monday morning kind of thing! I just want to know what kind of chocolate you are taking home to make up for the early alarm

This deserves cheesecake, the Cheesecake Factory variety.
