Some Through the Fire, Some Through the Flood
The escaping slaves were trapped. No place to run. No way out. An impossible situation.
The rebellious servants were revealed. Their guilt was evident. Their fate was sealed by the king’s command.
The troublemakers were locked up. Secure in the deepest hold of the prison. No potential for reprieve.
Moses, Shadrack, Paul and their friends all found themselves in life-threatening situations, ironically, as a result of obeying God. Nevertheless, they were totally helpless.
This is God’s specialty–delivering His people out of impossible situations. It wasn’t easy on them. They trekked through the desert. They literally faced the fire. They felt the lash. They all experienced the doubt and questions. They didn’t know how or even if God would deliver them.
But He did.
Deliverance came in such a way there was no question. God intervened. He gets the credit. He gets the praise.
We may also find ourselves in impossible situations. Fiery furnaces come in all shapes and sizes. May we have the same confidence to say, “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up” (Dan. 3:17-18).
No matter what, we remain faithful. How, when, and if God chooses to deliver is up to Him.
