A Day of Infamy

September 11th, 2007 by Danny

For this generation, Tuesday, September 11, 2001 is the date which will live in infamy. December 7, 1941 is beyond the memory of most Americans now. But everyone remembers 9/11. That date is so significant it is even recognized by an abbreviation.

National tragedies are times for memorial and mourning. But they should also cause us to turn from the distractions and busyness of everyday life and focus on priorities.

Attention to national security was an appropriate response to the attacks of 9/11. However, there is a greater need–a higher priority. Our greatest need is to turn back to God. There will be no abiding peace or national safety apart from God’s blessing and protection.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
