Creation Worldview

September 6th, 2007 by Danny

A person’s worldview affects how everything is viewed and interpreted. We are constantly bombarded with old earth evolutionary uniformitarianism, which asserts that it took millions of years for the slow processes of wind and water to shape the globe.

Refreshingly, there was little of this philosophy espoused by the presentations at the Mount St. Helens observatory. There was barely a mention of eons of time. Not that a creationist view was presented, by any means. But there is a distinct difference in how the forces of geology are presented at Mount St. Helens and most other national parks, such as Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon.

This makes sense, from a pragmatic perspective. It would not be wise for the evolutionist to speak of millions of years, while looking over geologic formations that developed in mere days. I’m sure they wouldn’t want to push that issue very much. They wouldn’t want people to start thinking and connecting the dots on a broader scale. For instance, if one volcanic eruption did all this, what would happen if the fountains of the ocean erupted simultaneously along with a forty-day deluge that produced a global flood? Something like that would definitely leave some marks on the earth.

But a person who doggedly holds to an evolutionary uniformitarian view will find a different way to interpret that evidence.
