Close to the King

August 13th, 2007 by Danny

There are a few lessons we can learn from David’s mighty men. First, you have to be close to the King to know the desires of His heart.

God rarely speaks in thunderous tones with lightening flashing. Elijah learned God did not speak in the earthquake or the mighty wind but in the still, small voice. David’s wish was not a command or even a request, it was simply the longing of his heart. Those close to him knew what he wanted and chose to do something about it.

When you are close to someone you know what pleases them. You don’t have to be told. You know their likes and dislikes. The same goes with your relationship with God. You don’t have to guess–you know His heart and that prompts action.
