When Does Our Group Compete?

June 13th, 2007 by Danny

This is a common question. I remember wondering this when I was making plans for our youth group to attend the convention. It would be helpful to know these details when making hotel reservations and trying to arrange other activities.

Here’s the challenge: Event registration deadline is June 15. Some state competitions are not held until that last week. Those that are held in conjunction with their state meetings may not be able to be any sooner. So we wait until the June 15 registration deadline to set the schedule. There are some constants–but there is too much that has to be shuffled around to make most efficient use of the time and space that it is wise to wait until everything has been set.

Our goal is to have the complete schedule posted online at www.fwbnyc.com by July 1.

Go ahead and plan on being there through Wednesday. There’s a lot going on every day. The National Youth Conference is much more than just competition. Participate in Reach That Guy service projects. Don’t miss any of the dynamic worship services held each night. Attend an informative seminar. Watch some entertaining DVDs. Sing with the Children & Tweeners Choir. Visit with a missionary. Turn in an application for Truth & Peace 2008. Nominate someone for Youth of the Year, Youth Group of the Year, or Youth Worker of the Year. Meet old friends, make new ones. Stroll through the exhibit booths. Buy some books. :-) Attend the “Major Changes in the Competition Guidelines” seminar on Wednesday afternoon. Watch some of the other competition, especially the Bible Competition. Check out the demo of the new team Bible game for 4th-6th graders: Bible Millionaire. Oh, and watch the ducks!
