I Have a Dream

June 6th, 2007 by Danny

King David had a desire in his heart to build a house of worship for God.  When the prophet Nathan heard David’s plans he encouraged him to pursue his dream.  But then God spoke to Nathan.  God’s message to David was, “Who told you to build Me a house?”  God was pleased with David’s desire to honor Him, but he was not permitted to build God’s Temple.

God chose David’s son, Solomon, to build the Temple.  Even though David could not build it, he did what he could to prepare for the construction.  David began to gather the building materials.  He stored up stones for the walls, cedar for paneling, iron for nails, as well as gold, silver, and brass in abundance.  He even made sure there were skilled craftsman available to perform the quality of work required for the job.  David then passed his dream to his son Solomon.

David had a dream and he set the plans into motion to reach the goal.  It is not enough just to have great hopes and dreams for the future, we have to set goals and make plans to see them fulfilled.

What are your dreams for your church?  Do they honor God?  Is it His will for the church at this time?  Let’s see what we can do with the resources God provides and then let’s pass on our dreams to the next generation so they can continue to build and dream.
